A Green Bay Packer game at world famous Lambeau Field

Welcome to our About page

Railhead: noun \rāl-hed\; A terminus point on a railway where loads are transferred from one form of transportation to another, as in from railway to truck, railway to barge, or vice versa. May also denote the beginning, end, or furthest point on a rail line.

After running trains across the middle of the country the name, Railhead Farms, just seemed a very fitting name for the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. It's a name that not only let's us concentrate on what's ahead of us but also reminds us of where we've been and the journey we've taken to get from there to here.

Anybody notice what colors we're wearing?

And what colors the website is wearing?

Because it's probably just a Wisconsin thing. Not!

We're a relatively small, family run, organic hop farm nestled into South Central Wisconsin among rolling farmland dotted with pristine lakes and woods. Clean air and crystal clear water abound. We are also very close to what used to be the center of hop production in Wisconsin before poor farming practices forced hop farmers to the arid Northwest. Currently we have about 3.5 acres of organic hops under four varieties, Cascade, Centennial, Chinnok, and Nugget. We've got five more acres to plant yet, already certified organic, and, of course, we're already "looking over the fence" with an eye to find even more land.
